For over a decade I struggled with body image and self-confidence issues. I always felt like my body wasn’t good enough, and simply I wasn’t good enough. I have always been extremely passionate about learning all factors of health and wellness, but would take things I learned to the extreme.
After enduring toxic relationships and dealing with sick loved ones, it didn’t matter how healthy I was eating because my life was full of toxic thoughts. As I got older, the pressure to look a certain way only intensified, especially with social media, and I found myself turning to food and exercise as the only way to cope. This toxic cycle was impossible to control.
I struggled with restrictive dieting, rigorous high intensity workouts 5-6 days a week, all which only made me feel worse about myself. I thought this was all just a “normal” way of living.
It wasn’t until my mother passed away, that I realized my health was spiraling in a very negative way. I knew it was time to make a change and turn inward, focusing on all the things that felt truly good for me.
That’s when I decided to follow my true passion of helping others, all while learning about what I loved- health and wellness- and I enrolled in IIN (Institute for Integrative Nutrition). During this journey of self-discovery, I was able to break free from the toxic cycle I was in. I started living a healthier and happier life after implementing meditation, self-care and mindful eating. I started doing ALL the things that felt truly good for me, day in and day out. Consistency is KEY. Taking the time to quiet my mind, tune into my body and prioritize my well-being had a profound impact on my physical and emotional health.
I learned that diets and restrictions weren’t the answer to my problems, and that by changing my mindset, I could create a more positive and empowering relationship with food and my body. For me, the key to sustainable health and wellness is to focus on nourishing my body and mind, rather than depriving or punishing myself through restrictive diets or intense exercise regimens. By focusing on what my body needs and listening to its signals, I am able to shift my mindset and develop a healthier relationship with food. I no longer see it as something to control or restrict, but as something to be enjoyed and savored. Changing my thoughts and beliefs is key to creating lasting change in my life.
Now, as a health coach, I’m passionate about helping others who are struggling with similar issues. I believe that everyone deserves to feel good in their own skin, and that it’s possible to achieve this through a balanced and sustainable approach to health and wellness.
